This was my first series commissioned by a New York publisher, co-written with my brother, J. Andrew Keith. Interestingly enough, though it was set in the future (2008) (deja vu!) ... after the Soviets had conquered most of the U.S., and though it involved efforts by our surviving armed forces to use time travel to go back and change history so that the Russians didn't win the Cold War, Berkley insisted that this was most emphatically NOT science fiction. It was marketed as men's action-adventure and enjoyed so-so success. I never got to write the final book in the series, though ... the one where the time-traveling U.S. commandos went back to the early 1980s and saved a Soviet apparatchik named Gorbachev from assassination, guaranteeing that the U.S. DID win the Cold War....
